§ 1-14. General penalty; continuing violations.

  • (a)

    Whenever in this Code or in any city ordinance an act is prohibited or is declared to be unlawful or an offense or a misdemeanor or whenever in this Code or city ordinance the doing of any act is required or the failure to do any act is declared to be unlawful or an offense or a misdemeanor, where no specific penalty is provided therefor, the violation of any such provision of this Code or any such ordinance that governs or regulates fire safety, zoning or public health shall be punished by a fine of not exceeding $2,000.00. The violation of any other provision of this Code or any other ordinance shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $500.00. No penalty shall be greater or less than the penalty provided for the same or a similar offense under state laws.

    (b)

    Each day any violation of this Code or any ordinance shall continue shall constitute a separate offense.
